Since its prolongation may lead to medical and surgical interventions, we aimed to determine the effect of acupressure on delivery duration of nulliparous women. Material and Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 150 parturients referring to Dezianii Hospital in Gorgan, Iran. They were assigned to three groups of acupressure by researcher, acupressure by mother and routine care (control group). The intervention was 20 minutes of pressure for one to five sessions. Data was analyzed by SPSS-17 software, using ANOVA and Kruskal-wallis.Results: The first stage of labor in researcher (269.78±102.27), mother (302.72±115.83) and control group (345.92±140.63) was not significantly different (P=0.084(.Furthermore, the period of second stage in all three groups showed no significant difference (P=0.77). Conclusion: Given that acupressure is a simple, accessible and free of side effect method, it has not significant impact on the duration of labor.}, Keywords = {Acupressure, Primiparous, Duration of Labor}, volume = {11}, Number = {2}, pages = {1-7}, publisher = {Golestan University of Medical Sciences }, url = {http://nmj.goums.ac.ir/article-1-620-en.html}, eprint = {http://nmj.goums.ac.ir/article-1-620-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Research Development in Nursing and Midwifery}, issn = {2588-3038}, eissn = {}, year = {2014} } @article{ author = {Davari, Marzieh and Mosharraf, Shamil}, title = {Aromatherapy Effect of Lavander Essence and Mefenamic Acid on Dysmenorrhea: A Clinical Trial}, abstract ={Background and Objective: Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is one of the most prevalent gynecological disorders that about 50-70% of childbearing women experience it. To relieve this pain, we can use different methods such as chemical drugs that may have some side effects. Thus, we aimed to determine the aromatherapy effect of lavender extract on dysmenorrhea. Material and Methods: This double-blind clinical trial was conducted on 90 female students, aged 18 to 26, who suffered from PD. They were divided into two groups of case, received lavender essence and Mefenamic acid, and a control group received placebo. Participants were evaluated for the severity and duration of the menstrual pain during the three first-days of the beginning of bleeding before and after receiving drugs. Since bruising and pain are thier unpleasant consequences following injection, we aimed at determining the effect of local cold on occurrence of pain and bruising at the injection site of subcutaneous enoxaparin sodium. Material and Methods: This experimental study was conducted on 36 patients allocated randomly to case and control groups in Panje Azar teaching center in Groan, 2012. In control group, routine subcutaneous injection of enoxaparin ,without local cold, in 10 seconds was performed while in case group , local cold was applied for five minutes before routine subcutaneous injection. The data was collected via a researcher-made check-list consisting of demographic part and the section for recording the extent of bruising and pain intensity. The Extent of bruising was measured by using clear flexible ruler within 24-48-72 hours and pain intensity by visual analog scale (VAS) immediately after injection. Data was analyzed by SPSS- 16 using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Results indicated that the mean of pain intensity in control (3.86±2.75) and case group (3.05±1.71) was not significantly different (P=0.148) and it is true for the extent of bruising in 24- 48-72 hours, no significant difference between two groups. Conclusion: Regarding the results, cold application before injection is not effective in reducing pain intensity and the size of the bruising.}, Keywords = {Enoxaparin Sodium, Pain, Bruise, Local Cold, Subcutaneous Injection}, volume = {11}, Number = {2}, pages = {15-21}, publisher = {Golestan University of Medical Sciences }, url = {http://nmj.goums.ac.ir/article-1-622-en.html}, eprint = {http://nmj.goums.ac.ir/article-1-622-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Research Development in Nursing and Midwifery}, issn = {2588-3038}, eissn = {}, year = {2014} } @article{ author = {Esfahankalate, Soheila and Hasheminsab, Seyedeh Maryam and Esfahankalate, Azam}, title = {Effect of Lecture and Group Discussion on Improving the Nutritional knowledge of Pregnant Women in Gorgan}, abstract ={Background and Objective: It is imperative that the application of appropriate educational methods is of paramount importance to nutrition knowledge and health of pregnant women.
